Our Doctors
Dr. Soule
Dr. Soule graduated from Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She worked in Monterey, California for 6 years immediately after graduation. In Monterey, Dr. Soule worked as a small animal clinician and also worked part-time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the sea otters. She also had the opportunity to work with many specialists while in California which improved her diagnostic skills and taught her many advanced techniques and treatments. In 1990, Dr. Soule returned to her hometown of Boise.
Dr. Soule is married and has one adorable little boy, 3 dogs, and one 33 year old horse (he is like the energizer rabbit...he just keeps going and going and going). She worked in several local hospitals before deciding to open her own clinic. Dr. Soule wanted to provide a warm, friendly, service-oriented hospital for pets and clients that reflected her love of animals and the bond between companion animals and their people. In December of 1994 Companions Animal Hospital opened its doors. Dr. Soule enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine including internal medicine, surgery, dermatology and geriatric medicine. She has a special interest in rabbits, ferrets and small mammals. She has attended the House Rabbit Society conference and several exotic animal conferences. Veterinary medicine is changing so rapidly that Dr. Soule feels continuing education is vital to provide high quality care for pets. She strives to attend 50 hours or more of high quality continuing education each year.
Dr. Soule enjoys time in her studio when she’s not at work. She made the ceramic tiles on the front desk and the fused glass light sconces behind the front desk. It gives the clinic a personal touch. You’ll see several examples of her work throughout the clinic, ceramic animals, clocks, treat containers etc. Some of her work is available for sale in the retail area.

Dr. Powell
Dr. Powell was born and raised in Boise and graduated from Boise High School in 1997. After her undergraduate studies at University of Idaho, she attended Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2004. Dr. Powell first started working at Companions as a vet assistant during summers while she was in vet school. She then spent three busy years developing skills in medicine and surgery at the Idaho Humane Society before coming back to Companions. Dr. Powell is very excited to meet all of Companions' great patients and clients, so feel free to stop in and say 'hi!". In her free time she is working on decorating the townhouse she bought last spring. She loves music, movies, art, dancing, cooking, and someday wishes to travel more. She lives with Arwen, an australian shephard mix, who is learning to share Dr. Powell with the occasional foster cat. Arwen has had a hip replacement, but loves to go for jogs or long walks because everyone stops to say how pretty she is.
